Check Point is a proven product with a long history, which is why almost all major corporations use it. Dedicated web application firewalls are significantly slower. The normal usage is to have a web application firewall, if you decide you need one, behind a stateful firewall so the web firewall is only handling web traffic.

I can tell you that SmartDefense's Web Intelligence stops a lot of stuff and will only get better.

So the answer, once again, is that it depends on your particular needs. :-)

Hello,

Does anyone know how Check Point FW-1 compares to dedicated web application firewalls?

There are a lot of web application firewall vendors out there, some seem to be head and shoulders above what Check Point can do now.

Any comments?

Thanks,

Emily
