Sin, thanks for your time and help.  I was not aware of GVRP as I have only
used IOS 6500series, and not COS, so I am researching it now.

i use it on HP switches. afair, gvrp is an IEEE standard.

yeah, i know vtp is cisco proprietary, but it's a shame, as it's more
configurable than gvrp.
