It appears that you can configure log file retention in /etc/cpshell/log_rotation.conf. Increase "backlog" to save more log files, perhaps.
As for NTP, there is no NTP daemon, instead cpd runs ntpdate at configurable intervals. You can run "cpd_sched_config print" to show how this is configured. If you reconfigure the "NtpPoll" task, and leave off the "-s" option to ntpdate, this should prevent logging to syslog. You could instead redirect standard output to whatever file you like.
