We are setting up our email system Lotus Notes/Domino for web access and will need to make this available from the internet. We currently have a SMTP gateway server in the DMZ for handling communications with the outside world and was hopping to have the web mail pass through this but we have to have direct access to the internal mail server hosting the accounts.
The only way I know of setting this up is use one of our available public IP addresses and use static NAT to forward the requests into the internal server for port 80. Not being a security expert, is there any other more secure way of setting this up with the firewall to avoid allowing direct access inbound on port 80?
