For it to be considered and defined as a gateway yes you need at least 2
interfaces. However a box with 1 NIC in it can install the FW module as
well. No problem having the FW mod installed on a box with 1 NIC, unless
you didn't mean to do this, which I have seen too many times when SCS is
being installed. The 1 NIC FW modules used to be called secure server,
the lic could be had for about 1K and was used to protect the single
machine it was running on. I think this one has gone way of the dodo and
dinosaurs.

And may I enquire how many interfaces you have in your virtual machine?

For a module require more then one interface.
