I would suggest that OS 9 is her best bet. X is great, and it is the one that Apple is pushing, but if most of her apps are classic anyway, then there is no real benefit. When she is ready to upgrade her software, then switch. OS 9 is still a great system and it sounds like it already works for her, so as the saying goes 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it'. That's my $0.02.
