Apple never made a CD-RW drive that fit in Pismo's expansion bay.
You're stuck with 3rd party solutions.  As usual, buyer beware.

Expansion drives tend to be more expensive than an external Firewire
or USB drive.  But the idea is that you're paying for convenience and
portability.  Having a CD-RW drive within the form factor of Pismo is
less to carry around than Pismo *and* an external drive.
