I don't understand why you didn't call Apple right away if you have a warranty issue. When my iBook battery was determined to be bad, they sent a new one overnight, I think (maybe two day, it's been a while) and I sent the old one back in the box it arrived in. Apple paid the shipping and I didn't have to leave my office. I'd think they would be as accommodating with something as critical as a power supply. Heck, just over a year ago when my G4's keyboard went bad, Apple sent me a replacement for it overnight (told me to toss the old one). Again, I didn't have to get off my butt and suffer any heat or humidity (driving in a car without air conditioning).
