Ah hah! Thanks for the info, guys (Ryan, Laurent). I'll use TOP instead of the process viewer from now on & find out which apps are doing the processor hogging.
I guess I shouldn't feel too bad about the fan running - I don't have AC in my house, and summer is keeping things at a toasty 80º or so in my computer room. I've got the Ti up on a PodiumPad, so it doesn't get TOO warm. The fan noise (as has been well argued here and on other forums) gets irritating. Again thanks very much for the info!!
