Mine too! Mine is a 12GB IBM and it's very loud (and only a 4200 RPM). Much louder than my previous 2GB Toshiba. Also, it sometimes squeaks, which I am told is a sign of impending failure.
Given the failure rate among IBM drives (apparently the model I'm using is really bad, and I heard about their Deskstar drives failing miserably), I would stay away from every drive made by them. They've made a lot of bad drives in the past, and they will probably continue to do so (even if most of their current drives are good, it's a sign that they're sloppy about designing and manufacturing hard drives).
