My Pismo 400 had a Mat drive that developed a problem...It started to make
grinding noises on different cd's and dvd's  and shortly thereafter it got to
where pressing the button on the side wouldn't even open it up.  I had to use the
end of a paper clip in the little hole to get it to open.  Once a disc was
inside, it opened by pulling the disc icon to the trash.  This occurred a few
months ago when the mobo went bad at the same time...Called AppleCare and sent it
in.  When it came back, there was an LG drive in it that is working perfectly so
far.
