I couldn't get a (clamshell) iBook to connect via ethernet, using a crossover cable, to my PowerBook. I tried another computer (PB 1400) and it worked, so I know the cable and setup are good. AppleTalk is on, and routed to built-in ethernet. So I guess the ethernet port must be bad, though visually it looks okay (no bent pins). Then I tried another iBook, and had the same problem, so now I'm wondering if there's some trick to setting up ethernet on an iBook? Or is there any other way to test the port?
