I would tend not to use a Lombard DVD-ROM in a Pismo until I had confirmed that it worked by some other means. I have not heard any cases of drive bay modules from a Lombard being incompatible, I believe in fact they all are compatible with a Pismo, however, my level of comfort would be to check it out with a little reading first.

The Pismo PowerBook uses the same drive bay devices as the Lombard PowerBook G3, although its DVD drive cannot be used on Lombard.
