Whew. But I'd still like to know about the lid-shut-sleep thingy, if anyone knows, do please tell. :-)

A weak magnet over the right edge of the PowerBook? Judging by everything from the Wallstreet to the Pismo, the sleep actuator is activated by a magnet in that general vicinity. You close the lid, lift the magnet up thus completing a circuit, and the PowerBook should go to sleep...
But that's just a guess - I don't have a TiBook to test on.
