First, Laurent's info is accurate (and he's mentioned OS X versions if 
that's what your daughter's iBook is running). Or, if your daughter is 
running MacOS 9.x, try these utilities:

DVDInfo
DVDRegion
Region
and a firmware patch file for your particular brand of drive.

Do a websearch and you should be able to find most of these. Let me know 
off-list if you can't and I'll try to help direct you.
