List CPA here. Harry's right, especially to emphasize good recordkeeping, but be careful in the area of home business/home office deductions. Your friends at the IRS will flag you faster than Richard Petty at the finish line for abuses there. It's a favorite audit target.
That's why I find it both extremely helpful and very reassuring to have a top-level expert (formerly at the highest levels of the IRS) teaching this subject and providing specifics about both record-keeping and IRS code. Basically, following this plan makes your tax returns "bulletproof."
