One thing I forgot to mention regarding the dead Pismo;
there's no hard drive in it. But I assume it should power on
without a drive, correct? There is a DVD drive and I have
the startup disc.

I'm thinking about sending it in to Powerbookresq.com--
any experiences with them? It seems like $49 is a good
price to get the problem diagnosed (including shipping
both ways).

I've read that sometimes, a very tiny crack on a line of the board will be
almost impossible to see, yet, they may not be functioning. I'm by no mean a
hardware expert, though...
