I have an iBook 60 (16VRAM) with a 20 GB hard drive. I have installed Panther just fine, but trying to install OS9 does not work at all. I get an error message saying this program cannot run on this computer. I have original discs for 9.04 and 9.2, but I get the same message with both. In fact, it won't start up with the 9.04 disc, I assume because this 'Book was released after 9.1 came out. I can get OS9 running by copying the System Folder over from my TiBook - Classic works and I can select it as a startup drive too. I ran the installer when hooked up in FW Target mode, but I can't run the updaters to 9.2.2 at all. I also tried my iMac 9.2.2 installer CD, but that wouldn't run either. Any suggestions, short of replacing the drive? I don't want to take this thing apart again, I did that recently to change out the CD with a Combo drive.
And another thing - this computer always thinks it is spanning monitors in OS9 (which the iBook isn't supposed to be capable of). I lose the cursor and after slapping my forehead go into the CP to drag the monitors apart each time. I tried trashing the Monitors preferences, but the next startup I got the same thing.
