And for an short answer to your question: Get as much Powerbook as you can afford, but don't forget to budget for AppleCare.
What kind of a budget are you looking at? What do you want to do with it?

You might *think* you do, but it's astonishing how quickly you realize how much power you have at hand, with even the lowliest of iBook.
A year ago I would'nt have thought I would be doing video, but today I am (or rather later this week, I will be, splicing together footage from our last trip.

This was a lunchtime project, mostly spent choosing the photos and writing captions. Creating and publishing the web page was select file> export, and saving it. Poof!
