The lower left hand corner of my Pismo is darker than the rest of the
screen. It looks like a shadow. Is this something repairable in a
fiscally responsible way? I can live with it if I have to, but I'd like
to fix if possible.

TIA

Tom W.

Sounds to me like a backlight going out. It is fixable if you don't mind doing a little disassembly, especially if the rest of the screen works. There are plenty of broken Pismo/Lombard screens around that still have good backlights. Where are you located?

That's what I was thinking. I have a Lombard that I was going to sell
since I got this Pismo. Sounds like I can use the backlight from that.
Do I need to find one of those manuals I am not allowed to ask about,
or would common sense and care enable me to switch the backlights?

I live in Memphis, TN.

Thanks, Tom W.

If you have a working Lombard, go ahead and sell that one rather than scavenge it for parts. I have some broken screens, I can send you one (or just the backlight). There are instructions available on the web, actually the screen assy removal part isn't too tough. It's a little harder to do the backlight, since you have to take the LCD apart too.

Here's a link to get the display assembly off. http://homepage.mac.com/scadboy/lcd/
