Powerbook G4/867 - 10.2.3
Suddenly, Acrobat Reader, Explorer, Netscape, ICQ, all unexpectedly quit. Other software appears to be ok, but I haven't tried everythig. Crash logs for each program start with EXC Bad Access - Kern invalid
address. Things worked fine until I installed a music program called PureData, which installed WishShell.

WishShell is a part of the TK/TCL toolkit, a port of a common X-windows GUI toolkit to Aqua, and shouldn't have done anything like that. All this means is that PureData uses Tk/TCL to do it's interface, which is common on many cross-platform applications, since native TK/TCL implementations exist on many platforms, so you write the code once and run it many places. And, looking at the PD pages, yes it's written for Linux, Windows and MacOS.

I'm with Laurent, try another account; I'll bet it's prefs or something.
