I see the $109 battery _is_ on the Apple battery list page <http://www.laptops-battery.com/catalog/default.php/cPath/1_43?osCsid=f9bed92085fff5a0eb122189f2421e45>, about 2/3 down. How Laurent found it I dunno; every link I tried on the main page took me to this list page, where the 2nd battery (#B-5899) is clearly identified as for "Apple PowerBook G3 1999/2000," and priced at $149, while the one Laurent bought (#NMA004L09) is identified only as "Part Number MCL-G3i" and costs $109. The only way to find out what PBs take the unidentified batteries is to click on each one ('less you can guess from the picture). Click on #NMA004L09 and you go to the page above, where it is identified as for the Lombard/Pismo. There _is_ a significant difference, however: the $109 battery is 4000mAH while the $149 battery is 5400mAH. So you get what you pay for. I also note that the higher capacity battery has a lower voltage rating; I don't understand enough about the subject to know what this indicates.
The real premium batteries these days seem to be the ones from Newer, via OWC:
<http://eshop.macsales.com/Catalog_Page.cfm?Parent=999&Title=PowerBook%20Accessories&Template=>
According to this page, Apple's standard Lombard/Pismo batteries are 4800mAH. So the $159 Newer battery (6600 mAH) offers 65% more capacity (roughly equivalent to time) than the $109 battery (4000 mAH). The latter would probably be fine for me, as I seldom use my PB off the desk, but need more than the 10 minutes I now get when I do.
