Actually I think my firewire port just died!!!!! I tried to plug in my ipod
and then my external burner.... And nothing works. ARGGGH!!!! What do I do!?

In my old Firewire iBook, a similar problem was sorted by simply resetting the Power Manager and then restarting. I found the solution somewhere in the Apple Knowledge Base. Prior to resetting the little button, the firewire port was as dead as a dodo. After that, it worked without problems. Worth a try.
