Further updates on the situation. We installed sys 9.04 onto a 3rd, empty

This seems to lead to a software conflict. Anyone have any hints?? I'm
getting tired of crashing and force restarts.

I just remembered something. Some laptop HDs tend to mess with the magnetic sensors in the G3 Series (although I cannot remember which ones) which create the symptoms you describe. Different versions of the OS have different methods of handling HDs during sleep, which could be causing your wake from sleep problem. I am not sure if this affects Pismos though, so someone else who could clarify this path of thought further would help shed light on your problem.
