MB/sec = megabytes per second. There is NO "MBps"!

How come...?

I think because it's simply a bad abbreviation, too often confused because people don't pay close enough attention to the cases. Additionally, a lot of publishing software, during their "clean up" operations, damage double capitalized abbreviations like "MBps" turning them into "Mbps" (a normal capitalized word). Not good. Makes for magnitudes of errors...

I agree with the word processor caution, but other than that, it shouldn't be any more confusing than your suggested approach, in my opinion.

Actually, for me "MB/sec" seems worse... It should either read "MB/sec." or "MB/s" (*)

And Travis is right, I by no means point out the mistakes I notice to put people down, I just believe that attention to details makes our world a little bit better (come on, it's an Apple list, I don't have to explain that :) ), plus I'm also enjoying this a lot... even if this IS off-topic discussion, so list nanny has every right to jump in and shout at us.

To bring this a little bit on topic -- Jef Raskin is known for his meticulous approach to English language. Read here:
