I've often resorted to this, doing a command/F in the Finder using the name of any application (freeware/shareware) that I have installed and decided I don't like/want to keep, then trashing all the files that show up. I often wonder, however, if "they" place any sort of invisible file(s) in the system that won't show when you search for it using the command/F method.
