My 60GB not very old HD started whirring this morning and, bottom line, the computer no longer recognizes it. TechTool doesn't see it, either. I've been trying everything, and once or twice it opened up on restart and I was able to drag some files to a Compact Flash card, but when I tried to burn files to CD, halfway through it started grinding and stopped burning.

Is there anything I can try? I had backed up crucial files a few days ago, but there's a lot of stuff on there I want.

Or can anyone recommend a retrieval company and how much does it cost?

Thanks,

Willi

Get a copy of DiskWarrior 3.0 and try to boot from it...Run it and see if that helps...It has saved me more times than I care to remember..
