The 15" is well suited to travel and really is not that much heavier. I take mine all over the place and I don't even have a car !
The backlighting is definitely a great feature for those who don't touch type and will be using their PB's in poor lighting conditions. Although I do type proficiently, I got it anyway as I figured it could be a good selling point when it comes time for me to upgrade to a newer PB.
