I use Epson printers for my Photography work and therefore have an Epson
printer for my daily needs, although a less expensive version. I once tried
the extremely cheap Chinese inks in my Epson daily driver and to tell you
the truth, they worked very well, although photos printed with the Chinese
ink, faded at a high rate of speed if left in the sun.

I then went on vacation for a couple of months and when I came back, the ink
had turned to the consistency of honey and would not print properly. After
hours of cleaning, I finally got it to work, but it was still pretty messed
up and would now clog if left for just a few days.

I now only use Epson ink and no longer have those issues and I would expect
your problem is a similar one. I don't think it is the printer you are
using, I think it is the ink!
