Apple's official word is if you open your PowerBook and install a
different hard drive your warranty is void. OTOH, Apple's general
working policy is to ignore that after market drive if the warranty
repair is unrelated to the drive. I've gotten warranty repairs on two
'books I've installed drives on. In one case the repairing tech HAD
to have noticed it - it was a tangerine iBook with a CD burner I
installed.
