No grinding noise... just stopped moving. Seems ridiculous that it would hit 
one bump and just die!

Ugh, that usually means replacing the drive. Does it make a grinding  
noise when you do push the eject button? Sometimes (rarely) you can  
'eject' it, then pull on the tray all the way out and give it a  
gentle yank. Sometimes that pops it back into the gears, but more  
than likely the drive is broken now.
