When I completely swap out playlists on my 4 gig Nano it takes about 15 minutes on my desktop G5 (USB2) and between 60 and 90 minutes on my G4 at work. (I don't normally sync it with my work computer but I wanted to test it before buying my wife a Nano for Christmas.)
