One thing my T41 laptop does have that the powerbook I own doesn't is drop protection for the hard drive so if I ever did drop the powerbook while it was on I may loose data but that's all backed up anyway. So it is paranoid but with a very real touch of reality to suggest not carrying it around powered up. If its asleep it should be really safe though.
