Yep, mine seems slow too, and I didn't see any difference when I tried
disabling the memory test. Interestingly though, if I press the power on
the G3 and my 8500 at the same time, the G3 actually gets ready first, ven
though it's running a much more extensions loaded system.
I just live with it too.

Make sure the correct startup disk is chosen in the Startup Disk (or System
