I have a B&W G3 w/576mb of ram running on system 9.04 which I just upgraded
to OS 9.1. I acquired this computer a couple of months ago and quickly
started having problems with freezes and bombs in PageMaker 6.52 (and now in
7.0), Photoshop 6.01 and FreeHand 8.01b. The usual problem is freezes. They
can happen at any time doing most anything. When it doesn't freeze, system
bombs occur in any of these programs, but Photoshop seems to be the worst.
The bombs can be error Type 2, Type 3, Type 7 or Type I0. There is no
pattern to any of this. I've reinitialized the HD, run Tech Tools (no
hardware problems detected), and run Norton's. Nothing seems to help the
problem. I'm now running on the most minimal set of extensions that will
still allow these programs to work and so far freezes have continued to
occur. I can run free of freezes and bombs for a couple of hours and then
they'll occur two or three times within 10 minutes. I'm at a loss. Anyone
have any ideas on what could be causing this?
