hmmmm.... the download thing is tricky. i've just downloaded the redhat OS
for an old pc over the last few nights. it took 8 or so hours to download
one cd iso image from their ftp servers on a 512 adsl line - not bad!

it seems strange that apple would neglect the fact that a majority of it's
users are going to have access to a high speed line (i'm not ruling out home
users at all - i'm thinking along the lines that running X on a iMac is
going to be a bit sticky and slow and the product is aimed more at
professionals?.)

i reckon apple should offer it as a pay for cd, free in dealers or a free
download....

i'm guessing they may have worked out that a lot of original CD's have been
duped onto cd-r and shared around (i'm not advocating this but apple ain't
to generous - an os that doesn't have many (if any!) apps to run???!!). i
guess its one way of making the people who haven't bought it yet go and
spend some cash. looking at apples site, some app's (office included) will
not run under anything but 10.1.

i guess my grumble is that the OS wasn't finished in the 1st place, why
should i have to spend more money so i can play dvd's and use the new
version of word? classics not an option - i didn't fork out for all that ram
for photoshop to have my os take 1/2 of it!!

sorry, rant, rant, rant......

laters,

jake

p.s. i still gonna bloody buy it though!! i need me head lookin at.....

>> thing is, will it be available for download or is apple gonna do it's 15
