I'll jump into this...I work as a graphic artist now, spent many years in
print shops, service bureaus...Not only do things have to interact, they
have to interact with what all your customers are using as well. The only
way I see the transition going is to use both for a while. For example,that
is the way it is now. Most service bureaus still have Quark 3, because some
customers still use it, and there are problems when opening it in Q4. In
defense of Adobe, there is no problem with Illustrator as far as backward
compatibility goes. Bottom line, there is no - either X or 8-9 - both will
have to be used for a few years, as far as the printing/publication industry
is concerned.
