George, we just talked about this drive on Wednesday and Thursday on this list
(topic RMA nr. and returning Maxtor HD). My 2 year old 30GB Maxtor
DiamondMaxPlus HDD started to create some boot problems so Maxtor send me a
replacement drive, that one you just bought. I haven't installed it yet so
don't know how good it is.
This is what Kyle Hansen said 'bout it:

"The D740X-6L is actually a relabeled Quantum drive.  Maxtor bought out
Quantum.
They are fine, but not as good as a DiamondMax drive."

Also PeterH mentioned that this drive is a UATA/133.

Don't know, haven't installed extra HDs in Beige G3s. I think that Kyle and
Peter can help you better with this.
