George, we just talked about this drive on Wednesday and Thursday on this list (topic RMA nr. and returning Maxtor HD). My 2 year old 30GB Maxtor DiamondMaxPlus HDD started to create some boot problems so Maxtor send me a replacement drive, that one you just bought. I haven't installed it yet so don't know how good it is. This is what Kyle Hansen said 'bout it: "The D740X-6L is actually a relabeled Quantum drive. Maxtor bought out Quantum. They are fine, but not as good as a DiamondMax drive." Also PeterH mentioned that this drive is a UATA/133. > It comes with (2) 5.25 inch > mounting brackets, double ended ATA cable, extra jumpers and of course no > Mac instructions. I've done HDD swaps before, but it was always a Mac with > only 1 HDD. I'm guessing on this , but with this kit this drive would go > where the optional Zip would be. Am I correct on this? Don't know, haven't installed extra HDs in Beige G3s. I think that Kyle and Peter can help you better with this. Marc -- G-List is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
