fair enough, there are allot of (l)users out there who misdiagnose problems (any one who's ever fixed tv's knows this is usually the case, if anything is wrong with the picture some people assume it's the picture tube, which almost never fails). my problem is with companies that do a bad job of trying to tell if the hardware really has a problem, provide poor telephone support (free or otherwise), or simply refuse to honor warranties proudly posted on their web sites. obviously if you waste a techs time you should pay something for it, but techs and their employers have a responsibility to try and provide good service and not assume everyone is an idiot. that's actually one of my problems with apple, the phone people all assume it's your first computer and you don't know anything, it's sometimes hard to find someone who knows more than you do and might actually be useful for real problems. i don't like to pay more for products just so companies can make idiots who don't know how to use them or abuse them happy, but it is sometimes a fine line.
