it could be worse, i had a drive specifically listed on their website as being covered by the no quibble warranty, they quibbled, specifically they said that since that model was out of production they couldn't help me. they stone walled me completely. it took multiple emails, long distance phone calls, threats to make them famous and finally mentioning the problem to one of their business partners (that bad p/r seemed to do the trick). in the end i wound up speaking to a man who claimed to be the woman i had talked to before, who also insisted that i hadn't talked to anyone at maxtor before! it was very, very clearly a woman's voice on the first several futile calls and a man who finally called me back. i had to slap the cr*p out of them to get any satisfaction, and then they still insisted on playing games. they wound up forcing the vendor to exchange it, i've no idea what deal they worked out with the vendor. simply put, maxtor has no corporate integrity what so ever, they won't hesitate to play games and screw you around unless and until you start making it cost them. never again. i was greatly saddened when they bought out quantum.
