It seems strange that your G4 takes so long to boot up. I have a B&W G3 with
1 GIG or ram, 2 IDE HD, 1 Ultra SCSI Boot Drive, running OS 10.1.5, and it
only takes about 50 seconds to boot up. I would definitely turn off the
memory test in OS 9, and maybe even consider a clean install. I have never
set up a Raid System on a Mac before, so I can't answer whether or not that
is a major factor or not.
