Linksys got the nod in my shop after two weeks of fruitlessly working with a
MacSense.

Ultimately, I got the MacSense to work, but by that time I had assembled all
the tools I needed to support the Linksys from a Mac, and the MacSense is now
collecting dust.

Another thing in Linksys' favor is you can actually get additional switches
(and other accessories) for them. MacSense may catalog a switch, but I've
never found a retailer which stocks it.

A negative for Linksys (no, not them alone) is each unit I have takes a
different Wall Wart.

A power strip which can handle four Wall Warts AND several additional plugs
is nice to have.

Ace Hardware carries one such power strip, and it comes in both DSL and cable
modem models (as to supplementary transient suppression). About $18.95. A
buck less when on sale.

Now, on both of my Ace Hardware power strips, I cut off the NEMA 5-15P plug
and substitute a plug which will fit the monitor power output connector of my
Macs.

Available from Digi-Key, Allied, Newark and some of the other "usual
suspects".
