gee, and so many people think i am smart. guess it's all in the eye of
the beholder. i actually do have allot of respect for most of the
people i've met, and even for a few politicians and pundits. as a
general rule i try not to be mean, rude, or unnecessarily quick to
anger.

as far as witless goes, most of my employers have in fact commented on
my well developed though dark sense of humor, my unique perspectives,
and my problem solving skills in general (and i do take great pride in
being a good employee, not to mention the views of my friends, one of
whom list my occupation in his data base as "super genius", and he is
successful and very intelligent himself, and a tireless worker). sounds
like classic sour grapes to me.

perhaps mr. limbaugh isn't the only one lashing out wildly in an attempt
to maintain the illusion of self importance. i for one know the world
would for the most part continue on it's course just fine with or
without me, i have no illusion that i am or could save society,
obviously some others think they are the key to avoiding oblivion, or at
least moral and social decay.

by the way, most intelligent people realize that mearly quoting the last
part of a statement, let alone the last part of a long sentence is a
form of misquoting and often produces an appearance that is not
consistent with the intent of the statement or the comment being made in
general.

i generally make a great effort not to slam people in public, but when i
am slammed i do feel compelled to defend myself. i've dealt with
bullies before, and it served well to teach me how to fight at a high
level of skill and dedication to self preservation and returning the
damage intended for me to the opponent (who made the decision to have an
ugly conflict). were you half as clever and skilled as you are
intolerant and quick to slap back catching mostly air and leaving
yourself open to a blow in the process. fortunately i am also usually
very restrained. perhaps you, though more limited in the length of your
responses, are doing as good a job as i at auto character assassination.
in any case i don't consider people intellectually deficient simply
because they disagree with me, there are many who agree with me i find
as witless as mr. limbaugh, or as i prefer, mr. limburger. (a smelly
cheese that some enjoy greatly none the less, obviously and acquired
taste). those incoherent and unconsidered speakers that agree with my
viewpoints do a great disservice to those ideals, and hence only help
the opposition if they can field a competent orator.

i'm certainly not screeching, and i don't mean to preach to the
uninterested. i care far less about the personalities and their
machinations than others obviously do, for me it's more of a good mental
workout. while my responses have been off the cuff, they were
considered, i always try to think before hitting send, and even try to
correct some of the formatting problems. though i doubt i'll ever fully
curb my tendency towards run on sentences or a good ramble.

perhaps what has offended others the most is that i've (and i believe
correctly) noted the similarity between rush's whining about apple not
advertising with him and those who want i-tunes, .mac, and everything
else free just because they deserve it. well, let me add that rush is
also whining about just the sort of thing and in the same fashion that
he usually finds so offensive when unknown others do the same. i don't
think rush is a happy camper, and i doubt he ever will be.

i myself make a point of enjoying life no matter what the day to day or
even long term hassles are. i enjoy a healthy and steady growth of my
intellect, my emotional maturity, and even my spiritual life, though the
latter is hardly conventional. i try to learn something every day and
from all each person i know, to enjoy the beauty around me, while not
ignoring the ugliness and problems either. knowing the limitations of
what you can change is wisdom, making an effort to help what little you
can is charity and idealism. at any case, i'm glad that i can quickly
spin out a long response without being petty or simplistic or just
wasting allot of space with empty sentences, that is the job of
politicians and those who haven't considered their own views enough to
have a complex and more complete understanding of all sides and most
importantly their own views. i respect opposing views, when they are
thought out and not knee jerk reactions based on blind trust in a
"leader" but rather thoughtful consideration of real situations,
problems, and obstacles. as must be obvious i enjoy a good debate, and
i think i have some skill at it.

i still consider those who lack debating skills as worthwhile people, i
don't pity them or hold hostility against them whether they agree with
me or not, that's not the point. the point is to consider things and
think rationally, which requires a respectful consideration of all views
even those that initially may seem foolish simply because the speaker
may lack certain skills. there is certainly no correlation between the
eloquence of a views proponent and the basic value or legitimacy of
their position, debate skills do not determine who is correct, they are
simply another tool, and like most tools are often used for the wrong
job or in the wrong way. that doesn't make the people involved wrong or
stupid in general, just humans, we are all by our very nature flawed.

Ernest Hemingway once wrote: "The world is a fine place, and worth
fighting for", i agree with the second part (from the movie se7en, and
my own sentiments). Philip Stortz, Mad Scientist At Large, available to
save worlds large or small, or at least to try, to fight the good fight.
