Well, the thing is, I'm trading my current laptop for a 520c plus money. Probably, that is. If the trade doesn't go through for some reason, I may sell my PowerBook G3 and get a 1400 or 3400 instead. Or I may just decide to keep my PowerBook. I don't know yet.
Either way, I will end up with a desktop system that is more powerful than my laptop. A beige G3 may not be the best way to go, since I'd need lots of upgrades in order to bring it up to spec, and even then it wouldn't be that great (certainly not as great as, say, a used Sawtooth). Again, I don't need lots of power but a significant jump would be nice. Something that'll keep me able to do basic things for a few years. I'm afraid that a beige G3, as adequate as it looks now, may just not cut it even for basic work a few years down the line.
