I'm certainly underwhelmed...
System:

Beige G-3 266
BOX STOCK
140mb RAM
2gb and 4 gb SCSI drives
Apple's 24x CD-ROM
No extra cards installed

From the Read Me Before You Install pdf on
the 10.2 CDs:

"Supported computers
You can install this version of Mac OS X on any of the following computers:

Power Mac G4

*Power Macintosh G3* <this is the exact machine that I've been trying to
install on.>

PowerBook G4

PowerBook G3 (except the original PowerBook G3)

iMac and eMac

iBook"

From what I see, this system *is* supported. HA!!!

Booted to OS 9.2.1, X.2 CD in CD-ROM
Install X (Jaguar)
Error Message: Can't set boot device to CD (-2)
Set boot device to CD in Startup Device C/P
Boot to nothing...
Black screen. Some disk activity then no disk activity.

Remove X CD, replace w/ 9 CD.
Boot holding C, nothing
Boot holding the vulcan nerve pinch, nothing
Boot holding option, nothing. (THis worked when we had the same problem
w/ 10.1)

We're back to black screen. 17" multiscan monitor. Holding the option
key down doesn't cut it this time...

Apple has made great strides in becoming more Windows like.

Like I said before...

OS eks sux.

Jim
