i would, but only because their warranty people tried to rip me off before, it took several months, phone calls, email etc. to get them to honor their web posted warranty. i tend not to do business with people who show that kind of contempt for customers. on the other hand, the drives are usually reliable, though i did have to have the one that came in the g4 replaced, but that was through apple and went smoothly of course. ibm seems to be better and more quite (sp, i hate that), but they did have problems with one particular model, which i'm sure you can look up. fujitsu also seems very good, as do quantums even though maxtor took them over, it's still the quantum designs but then again you have potential customer service abuse again. the "quantum" i've got is also significantly faster than the maxtor, though both have the same spindle speed, i think the quantum has a better look ahead algorithm for it's cache when doing long reads. ibm might be faster as well, but i haven't tested those. basically, maxtor makes a good drive, but thier customer service and warranty handling are horrific if it's not convenient for them. the drive i had problems getting replaced had been discontinued, so they tried to blow me off even though it was clearly listed (the exact model i had) on thier web page about the "no quibble" warranty, which in my case turned out to mean they didn't want me to quibble, they didn't offer a refund or free upgrade or even to give me credit towards another drive, eventually they beat the vendor into supplying a replacement, i suspect they didn't even take the drive back from the vendor, and the drive was less than a year old when i got it new, factory sealed and all. as they say, fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me.
