In aviation we are told never to use paper towels to clean windshields.  Of
course, these are plastic on airplanes, but the wisdom is that every paper towel
made has some kind of grit when compared to cotton old tee shirt cotton, the
preferred wiper.  Paper towels wouldn't scratch glass but might harm some screen
coatings.

It makes me crazy the way some folks poke their computer screens with fingers,
pencils and worse.
