Hello:

        Thanks for the reply and suggestions. The scratches (and 
patches chipped away) appear as light(er) areas on the screen similar 
to a fogged window (screen coating) with a water streak in the steam 
(apparent scratches). There doesn't seem to be an actual mark in the 
glass, just the coating.

        As the screen cleaner is likely alcohol as you've suggested, 
would the coating not intentionally be of a nature to resist 
dissolving in alcohol?

        Again, this occurrence has definitely surprised me as I do 
not even touch my screen intentionally and (relatively) carefully 
clean only a few times a year. Never before had I had a concern (with 
previous screens) until today.
