Huh? He's trying to install a Pioneer 5.25" drive into a Mirrored Drive
Door G4 Dual 867. It has a 2nd 5.25" Bay and installation is a snap for
even a novice. Installing a 2nd 5.25" drive in a B&W takes intestinal
fortitude, a Dremel tool, 7 pints of Guinness, a Dancing Bear, Grass skirts
and chicken bones, a priest and a complete disregard for the machine that
you are butchering. Just kidding, but it's not easy at all. But now that
Apple's contract with Iomega is up (yes, that's why Apple kept putting that
stupid 3.5" bay under the 5.25" drive in the recent towers) there is a nice
open bay to put another NON-APPLE optical drive into. I was shocked that
the user manual for the MDD G4 even authorizes the use of a 3rd party
optical drive...right there in print!!!!! I added a 40x burner in mine.
Just removed the bezel off of the end of the drive and it opens and closes
with ease. Aaron will have his machine back up in a half an hour. No
problem. He is a geek like the rest of us and definitely capable.
