So does that mean I would see an improvement in the Finder operations
with the card, relative to the Rage Pro onboard, or not? I am
confused here. Am I better off going for the G4 for an overall
system speedup, and then getting myself a Rage-equivalent video card
for a second monitor?

I don't play games, all I want is a reasonably responsive Finder.
And a decent CPU engine for my VSTis.
